Patience only works when hope is present.
When it is time and we are thoroughly mature enough for God to expand our spirit, He takes our spirit man into His weight resistance training and fitness program. In His weight training program, God presses us by using circumstances that resist our spiritual forward progress; that will delay us from obtaining the visions that He set before us. God purposely places obstacles in our pathway to test our weight training form and to strengthen our spiritual muscle fibers.
In the process of training, God presses us out of measure beyond strength; beyond our capability to endure until we are spiritually out of breath and fatigue (this form of training is only given unto those who follow after God's righteousness; who suffer for righteousness sake). We are at our wits end, we waiver like a ship to and fro, questioning our beliefs, and questioning God concerning His works and the promises He made to us. We vacillate in our minds, have we done anything to displease God or have we strayed from the faith? In our minds we go down our checklist dotting every “I”and crossing every “T”, making sure that we have performed everything that God has commanded of us. Yet, as our Personal Trainer, God forges us onward through our exercise regimen knowing that tribulations produces poise , because “His grace is sufficient for us” and “His strength is made complete in weakness”. We know, as Job knew, that we have been running with patience the race that God has set before us; not denying His name, but confessing Him to those that He brings before us. We know that we are strangers and pilgrims upon this earth; having no continual city, but we look for a heavenly city to come. We love the praises of God more than the commendations of mankind; being misunderstood and labeled as evil, but performing good works. We know that we have been feeding the poor and clothing the naked with the revelations of God’s Word, that the Holy Spirit has revealed unto us. Then why the difficulties; why is it so hard to procure the promises and visions that God gave unto us, when it is His promises and His visions in the first place? Shouldn’t it be much easier, since we are no longer walking in the crooked paths of our choices and no longer strategizing and taking thought for our lives? Are we not His heirs; are we not covenant partners with God and His legitimate sons and daughters? Have we not denied ourselves and taken up our crosses and followed Christ?
In reality, we are only in God’s spiritual spa; this is His way of exercising our spirit man’s muscles. It has nothing to do with right or wrong issues. It has nothing to do with suffering for righteousness and for the Word of God’s sake; nor does it has anything to do with chastising sons and daughters of God. However, it has everything to do with spiritual fitness. Now, we have arrived into this maturation realm, as Job and Paul the apostle had, where we no longer are suffering for those previously mentioned training disciplines. We are now suffering for the well-being of the members of the body of God’s creation. This is the preliminary sign for those of us who are in the 60 fold realm, that we are ready for our entrance into the vineyard of the 100 fold; the realm of oneness.
Since all truth is relative, we can make comparisons to the effects of weight resistance training in the natural to what God does by the spirit. In the natural when we are performing our weight training exercise, our muscle contracts in the effort to move the weight; this applies great pressure on the tiny blood vessels that supply blood to the muscle fibers[a]. This pressure forces the blood out the muscle fibers; then, water that surrounds the cells rushes in and replaces the blood (the water helps remove the residue left behind); then the water fills the muscle fibers causing them to expand[a]. When we rest our muscles, because of muscle fatigue, the blood with growth hormones returns to the muscles fibers producing new growth and strength[a]. After, the weight training session, we must rest our muscles, that they maybe rejuvenated. Also, we must eat the proper diet to replenish the nutrients that were depleted.
In similar fashion, when God presses us by circumstances, this pressure forces the old fallen Adam and Eve’s nature out from our inner most being. The water of God’s righteousness rushes into our spiritual fiber; expanding our muscles and cleaning any residue left. God’s righteousness always precedes His salvation! What came out of Jesus’ pierced side; was it not water and blood for the cleansing and the reclamation for all of God’s creation? After the pressing, God provides a resting period for us, because of spiritual fatigue; this allows the life-given blood of Jesus Christ to enter into our inner being, rejuvenating and strengthening our new nature. For it is written, “But we have this treasure in earthern vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, but life in you. We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; knowing that He which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal”.
Furthermore, God’s Word states, “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit”; “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death”.
